Detoxification of the body – what is it?

Intoxication is the poisoning of the body with toxic substances. During detoxification, these substances are removed from the body in different ways. Quickly and safely remove poisons, toxins, other poisonous substances can be in the conditions of the hospital.

The patient is assigned an individual detox program, drugs are usually administered gradually, in small doses, with the help of a drip. This is necessary for the purification process to proceed as physiologically as possible.

Causes of toxins in the body

Toxins are poisons of chemical or natural origin, which are constantly present in our body and are a product of its vital activity or come from the environment.

The main causes of toxins in the human body are:

  • specially processed and canned foods;
  • fruits and vegetables containing pesticides;
  • living in unfavorable ecological zones;
  • harmful labor conditions;
  • polluted indoor air (building materials, household products);
  • use of poor-quality cleaning and cosmetic products;
  • alcohol abuse, smoking;
  • food or chemical poisoning;
  • prolonged contact with heavy metal salts;
  • uncontrolled use of medications.

Excess toxins, according to doctors, lead to constant headaches, decreased immunity, pain in the joints and soft tissues, decreased efficiency, and the appearance of irritability. The scientific world is inclined to the theory that toxins in the body, or rather their excess, are the direct cause of premature aging.

Toxins we are exposed to every day

Every day everyone is exposed to toxins that are an inevitable part of life. We already know how dangerous household items can be, and what happens to the body when exposed to toxic substances on a daily basis.

Detergents, specially processed foods, medicines – all contain more or less toxins, heavy metals, microbes and chemicals that accumulate in the body and cause slow, irreversible processes that deteriorate human health.

Symptoms

The body’s reaction to severe intoxication is acute and rapid. Almost immediately after poisoning, certain symptoms appear (the clinical picture depends largely on which organ is affected).

Most often the following clinical signs are observed:

  • dizziness;
  • nausea, vomiting;
  • increased body temperature;
  • general weakness, lethargy;
  • sudden changes in blood pressure;
  • sleep disturbance.

If one or more of the above signs appear, you should immediately consult a doctor and undergo examination. Otherwise, acute intoxication may develop, which will require emergency medical care in a hospital.

How to make detoxification yourself

Proper detoxification implies a set of measures, which includes control over food, daily routine, metabolic processes, and measures taken to eliminate toxic substances from the body (mandatory!).

Some factors can affect the choice of detoxification program: the period of pregnancy, working conditions, individual intolerance and the severity of the disease. A clear distinction should be made between weight loss diets and detoxification diets.

The following measures are sufficient to remove toxins:

  • drink more than 2 liters of fluid per day (first meals can also be considered);
  • consume foods rich in fiber (fresh fruits, vegetables, legumes);
  • reduce salt intake, which absorbs fluids and interferes with metabolism;
  • pay attention to smoothies (cocktails of vitamins and fiber);
  • enrich the diet with white meat and cereals, it is better to exclude pasta;
  • emphasize physical activity that increases sweating (shaping, Pilates, yoga, exercise complexes, hiking) and physiotherapy.

You should also minimize existing risks by reducing the influence of negative environmental factors on the body. For drinking and cooking, you should use purified water with the help of special tap filters. The diet should include products that grow in an environmentally favorable area.

Professional detoxification

A healthy body usually handles intoxication on its own, eliminating toxins through the kidneys, intestines, and sweat. However, in acute intoxication or in the presence of disease, when the body cannot cope, help is required. For this purpose, natural detoxification is carried out – the use of diuretics and laxatives, gastric lavage, as well as diet, physical activity and vitamins. The course of treatment lasts up to three weeks.

With chronic intoxication (for example, due to drugs, alcohol or medications), artificial detoxification may be necessary. Depending on the patient’s condition, methods are used:

  • Medication – solutions that bind and eliminate toxins are administered intravenously.
  • Extracorporeal – hemodialysis or plasmapheresis to purify the blood.
  • Biological – visiting the bath, physical activity and a course of vitamins.

Often combined several methods with general strengthening therapy to improve the patient’s health.

Results

Detox produces the following results:

  • relieving withdrawal syndrome in addicted people;
  • restoration of metabolic processes;
  • improvement of internal organs;
  • improvement of the nervous system;
  • improvement of immune defense;
  • improvement of psycho-emotional state;
  • improvement of the quality of life.

Detoxification and its role in preventing disease

Detoxification not only helps to eliminate toxins but also plays a crucial role in disease prevention. Over time, the accumulation of harmful substances in the body can weaken the immune system, making it more vulnerable to infections and chronic diseases. Regular detox programs can help reduce the risk of developing conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and even cancer by promoting healthy organ function and improving overall metabolic processes. Additionally, detoxification supports liver health, which is responsible for processing and neutralizing toxins. By enhancing liver function and improving circulation, the body becomes more efficient at eliminating waste and absorbing essential nutrients. Regular detoxification, combined with a balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle, can significantly contribute to long-term health and well-being.

Conclusion

Body detoxification is the process of eliminating toxins, improving overall health. Although the body is capable of handling intoxication on its own, acute or chronic intoxication requires medical attention using various methods such as medication or extracorporeal procedures.

It is important to maintain proper nutrition, physical activity and minimize exposure to toxins to normalize metabolism and strengthen the immune system. Detoxification helps to restore health, improve organ function and enhance quality of life.
